Australian Jewellery Store Renovation & Bespoke Display Solution
This project showcases a full jewellery store renovation completed for a bespoke jewellery boutique in Adelaide, Australia. Sundo provided design optimization, custom display cabinet manufacturing, material coordination, lighting integration, and DDP shipping support. The goal was to improve store presentation, functionality, and premium customer experience through a tailored retail display solution.
Project Background
We are honored to have collaborated with Pink Carat, an award-winning bespoke jewellery boutique based in Adelaide, South Australia. Led by master jeweller Bevan Jones, Pink Carat is renowned for its traditional hand-crafted techniques and exceptional custom engagement rings. With a reputation built on meticulous attention to detail and personalized service, the client sought to renovate their Unley studio. The goal was to transform the space into a modern, sophisticated retail environment that reflects the premium quality of their handcrafted jewellery while improving store functionality.
The Partnership Opportunity
Our connection with Pink Carat began through social media, where we first showcased our manufacturing capabilities. Recognizing their interest, we extended an exclusive invitation to them to visit our booth at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show. While they could not finalize immediately, the turning point came when we shared a curated portfolio of our past successful projects. Seeing the consistency and quality of our work built the necessary trust. Impressed by our design logic and craftsmanship, the client paid the design fee, approved the proposal, and officially signed the production order, marking the start of a seamless cooperation.
Project Requirements
- Design Translation: The client provided their own hand-drawn sketches and photos of the existing shop, requiring us to interpret their vision accurately.
- Strict Aesthetic Standards: As a brand focused on bespoke luxury, the client had rigorous standards for materials. They required precise color matching and high-end hardware accessories, personally comparing options to ensure perfection.
- Full-Service Logistics: The project required a complete turnkey solution, including manufacturing, quality control, and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) full-container shipping to Australia to minimize logistical burdens on their end.

- Professional Design Optimization: We didn’t just manufacture; we acted as design consultants. We took the client’s initial sketches and photos, applying our expertise to optimize the layout and display ergonomics, ensuring the final design was both beautiful and practical.
- Precision Manufacturing & Color Control: Understanding the client’s “perfectionist” approach to craftsmanship, we provided extensive sampling for hardware and finishes. We strictly adhered to their color requirements, ensuring the new display cabinets perfectly matched the brand’s boutique atmosphere.
- One-Stop DDP Service: We handled the entire supply chain. From our factory floor to the client’s storefront in Adelaide, we managed the full-container loading and customs clearance. This “door-to-door” service allowed Pink Carat to focus on their jewelry business while we handled the complexities of international transport.

Material & Color Coordination
The design palette is anchored by a sophisticated Pantone Cool Gray 1C matte finish on all MDF cabinetry, creating a clean, modern canvas that allows the jewelry to stand out. This soft gray is expertly paired with SSTJ-2332 dark brown brushed stainless steel, used extensively for frames, edging, and kickplates to add depth and a premium tactile feel. High-quality ultra-clear tempered glass (6mm, 8mm, and 10mm thicknesses) is utilized throughout to ensure maximum visibility and safety. For specific touchpoints, such as the jewelry trays and pull-out surfaces, we incorporated beige lychee-patterned PU leather, softening the interaction between the customer and the product.
Space Layout & Customer Flow
The layout combines tall wall cabinets with low-profile island counters to achieve a balanced mix of storage and display. Perimeter wall units reach 240 cm in height, featuring glass display sections on top and concealed adjustable storage below. A window showcase set at 900 mm high is designed to attract foot traffic while ensuring security. At the center, free-standing jewelry islands at 105 cm height with tempered glass tops and stainless-steel legs offer open visibility for consultations, complemented by a reception desk finished with a marble-textured countertop to create a professional service focal point.
Lighting Design
- Lighting is critical for jewelry presentation. We implemented a 6000K white light temperature across all fixtures to ensure diamonds and precious metals sparkle with true color accuracy.
- Ambient & Accent: Tall cabinets feature top-mounted 3W spotlight bars, while island counters utilize integrated LED strip lighting around the perimeter of the glass showcases to eliminate shadows.
- Logo Illumination: The branding is highlighted using 3D mini-letters (Pink & White) with front-facing illumination and internal 20mm LED strips, ensuring the “PINK CARAT” brand identity is visible and distinct.
Functionality & Details
Every manufacturing detail was executed for durability and ease of use:
- Security: All glass display doors, including sliding drawer units, are equipped with high-quality pass-through locks to secure high-value inventory.
- Ergonomics: Pull-out display drawers feature smooth sliding rails and are designed with specific “anti-detach” mechanics to prevent the bottom plate from sliding out with the glass, ensuring safety during product retrieval.
- Power Integration: We integrated 240V wide-voltage electrical systems with discreetly placed cabling (routed through cabinet legs) to maintain a clean aesthetic while supporting local power requirements.
- Custom Fabrication: The reception and specific counters feature artificial marble countertops, adding durability and a high-end finish to high-touch areas.
